Staphylococcus Epidermidis

Staphylococcus epidermidis is a gram positive bacteria. It is a member of the genus Staphylococcus. It is present in normal flora of skin and mucous membranes and is responsible for hospital acquired infections, in people using:
•    I/V catheters
•    prosthetic implants

It is responsible for
•    endocarditis
•    osteomyelitis
•    peritonitis in renal failure
•    renal failure

Those predisposed include:
•    neonates
•    I/V drug users

Staphylococcus Saprophyticus

Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a species of gram positive, coagulase negative bacteria belonging to the genus Staphylococcus, responsible for causing community acquired urinary tract infection. This disease is usually seen in sexually active young women.

Treatment
Penicillin or erythromycin are used.

For UTI
1. Nitrofurantoin
2. Norfloxacin
