Alpha and beta blockers block alpha 1, beta 1 and beta 2 receptors, while act as partial agonist at beta 2 receptors, causing decrease in TPR.

Examples include Labetolol and Carvidolol

Uses
  1. Pregnancy induced pheochromocytoma
  2. Angina
  3. Hypertension crisis
  4. Abrupt withdrawal of clonidine
Adverse effects

Adverse effects include hypotension, weakness and headache.
